A vintage 1981 Chanel sautoir necklace featuring a rhythmic arrangement of imitation pearls, blue chicklet crystals, and clear Swarovski crystal accents. Set in a polished gold-tone metal, this 77cm long piece embodies the bold, multi-textured elegance of Chanel’s early 80s costume jewelry collections.

The 1981 sautoir is a masterclass in chromatic rhythm. For DE MIDDEL, the blue chicklet crystals represent a cooler counterpoint to the ‘lipstick reds’ of our family memories. In our house curation, we don’t treat this as jewelry, but as a linear sculpture. By draping it over a modern frame or installing it near a Lego design, the light through the blue glass creates a magical shadow play, turning a vintage accessory into a focal point of contemporary domestic storytelling.
